Vintage Paramount Ex-Otaki JS3 Stalin “Russian Red Star Tank” 1:60 Scale Heavy Main Battle Tank Kit No. 5002-200 Sealed Paramount Industries Inc., Pawtucket, RI. Made in Japan. Circa late 1960s – early 1970s. 1:60 scale motorized plastic model kit. Paramount was a small production company that mostly re-issued kits from other manufacturers. This Stalin IS-3 tank is from an Otaki mold which is 1:60 scale and motorized. The box advises that the motor uses 2 AA batteries (not included). The box is still sealed with the original shrink-wrap which has bent the sides of the box slightly (see photos). Shrinkwrap has a few holes and dust/dirt but has never been opened. Mint in Box condition Note: The JS-3 Stalin, AKA IS-3 or JS-III was the final wartime production of the Stalin heavy tank series that didn’t enter service until 1945 and saw continued postwar service. Based on the KV series, the Stalins featured heavier armor and much larger guns (the IS-3 had a 120mm gun) to defeat the Germn Tigers and Panthers. The IS-3 also had a lower silhouette, deflective armor and a distinctive “inverted frying pan” turret. Many photos and newsreels can be seen of them in the final battle of Berlin.
